A South Carolina father has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after his two-year-old son picked up a gun that was laying on a table and shot himself dead on Christmas day. Sincere Tymere Smith, who would have turned 3 in March, fatally shot himself in the chest at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday at his family’s Conway home. Smith died while being rushed to a hospital in Charleston.

The gun the toddler used to kill himself belongs to his father, 30-year-old Rondell Javon Smith of Conway, who was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter. Smith was released from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Conway on Wednesday after posting a $500 bond. Family members told News Channel 15 that Smith had recently bought the gun after someone attempted to break into their home two weeks ago.
