‘Knock-out’ consumes buildings in Lagos

A powerful explosion ,this morning, rocked a building, said to be containing fireworks on Lagos Island, a densely populated part of Nigeria’s commercial hub, Lagos State. . According to Jon Gambrell, an AP reporter based in Nigeria in his tweet-account, “The explosion happened around 9am and shook windows miles away.

“It is unclear what started the fire. Officials could not immediately say if anyone had been injured in the blast.
“The fire has consumed two blocks of buildings on Lagos Island. The blast blew out windows of a school across the street.” He wrote. Meanwhile, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has confirmed the incident saying that “Search and Rescue officers of NEMA, are having a hectic time to reach the place due to traffic and crowds.”
