Emir's bullet ridden car
Gunmen have attacked the convoy of the Emir of Kano,
Alhaji Ado Bayero, killing three. The attack took place at Masalaci Murtala in Kano metropolis. It was
gathered that the
attackers opened fire from a motorcycle. The Emir escaped unhurt but his driver,
a traditional guard who tried to protect him and the Management Officer of
Kumbotso local government of the state, were not so lucky as they were killed
in the attack. Two
of the Emir’s sons were also injured in the attack which was launched at about
12 noon today.
It was gathered that the 19th Fulani Emir was returning from a Quranic
graduation ceremony which took place at Gidan Murtala mosque in Kano,
when the
attackers struck.
So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
