Nkiru Silvanus used to be one of the less controversial actresses in Nollywood, but scandals that should have trailed her during her heydays in the movie industry is what is trailing her now that she is no longer active. She has become the subject of controversies in the media.

The recent rumour has it that she lost her job as Senior Special Assistant to Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha, on Lagos Affairs. An obviously angry Nkiru was forced to issue a press statement saying, “For the record, I was the Lagos Liaison Officer, SSA Lagos affairs, which has been taken by Lisa, and I’m now SSA on Public Affairs. For my fans that still love and believe in me, God will always be faithful. For those who want my down fall, sorry I’m the wrong person because I stand tall and strong.”

Shortly after, the actress was abducted by unknown men in December 2012. She was released a few days later, after an undisclosed ransom was allegedly paid by her family members.

And just when you expect that Miss Sylvanus should be chilling, she is currently battling with rumours that she’s married to Umar Sani, the Media and Publicity Assistant to Nigeria’s vice-president, Namadi Sambo, who rumour mongers claim she has been dating for a long time.

However, an entertainment newspaper in Lagos claimed to have spoken with Nkiru and she told them that the reports are “totally untrue,” insisting there was neither an elaborate nor secret wedding ceremony between herself and Sani, as the story claimed.

Although Nkiru did not say whether or not a relationship exists between her and Umar Sani, who is already married, Umar on the other hand has denied the story describing it as the figment of the peoples’ imagination.
